Parent Visa

Parent Visa in Australia allows parents of Australian citizens or permanent residents to migrate and live with their children in Australia. There are mainly two main visa options available for parents:

  1. Parent Visa (subclass 103): This is a permanent visa that permits parents to live in Australia indefinitely. The processing time of this type of visa is quite long.
  2. Contributory Visa (subclass 173 & 143): This is a permanent visa that permits parents to live in Australia indefinitely. It has a higher processing priority than to subclass 103 visas. The contributory parent visa requires higher application charge but has a faster processing time.

To be eligible for Parent Visa, one must meet certain requirements:

  • Having a child who is an Australian citizen or permanent resident and is willing to sponsor you.
  • Meeting the balance-of-family test, which requires at least half of your children to be living in Australia as permanent residents or citizens, or that there are more children living in Australia as permanent residents or citizens than in any other single country.
  • Meeting health and character requirements.
  • Meeting certain age requirements, which may vary depending on the visa subclass.
  • Meeting the specific financial requirements, including assurance of support.

It’s important to note that the Parent Visa program has limited places available each year, and there may be waiting periods before an individual can be granted a visa.
