Graduate Visa 485

The Temporary Graduate Visa (subclass 485) is a visa for International Students who have recently graduated from an Australian Educational Institution and wish to stay in Australia temporarily to gain work experience. There are mainly two streams under this visa category:

1. Graduate Work Stream: This stream is for international students who have recently graduated with skills and qualifications that are related to specific occupations Australia needs. The visa allows students to stay in Australia for up to 18 months and temporarily increased to 24 months for visas granted from 1^st December 2021.
2. Post-Study Work Stream: This stream is for international students who have recently graduated from Bachelor’s, Master’s or Doctoral degree in Australia. The length of this Visa depends on the highest educational qualification one has completed, ranging from 2 to 4 years.

To be eligible for the Graduate Visa 485, one must meet certain requirements:

• Be under 50 years of age.
• Hold an eligible visa.
• Have held student visa in the last 6 months.
• Have a recent qualification in a CRICOS registered course.
• Nominate one stream only, it is not possible to change visa streams after you apply.
• Meet the English language proficiency requirements.
